Secrets Your Auto Insurance Company Doesn’t Want You to Know

Many drivers rely on good faith and may not expect to be forced to sue their auto insurance company in order to receive payment for expenses resulting from a car accident.  Typically, most just want to have their car repaired and their medical bills paid.

Unfortunately, the auto insurance attorneys of Michigan Auto Law deal with many car insurance companies on a daily basis that take advantage of their customers by cutting off their benefits without reason or notice. Some insurance companies also put people “under investigation”— the excuse for stopping payment of all medical bills and wage loss. People are being ignored, threatened, intimidated and even lied to by their insurance claims adjusters.

The following are common tactics used by many auto insurance companies to either avoid or minimize their payouts to customers. Suggestions are included on how you can protect yourself to avoid or minimize problems with your automobile insurer.

Many restrictions and limitations are buried in your policy’s fine print:

Knowing how to read and understand the fine print of auto insurance policies is not an easy task. Auto accident lawyers have seen far too many people lose out on important benefits because they were unaware of important filing requirements buried in their policies.  For example, many auto insurance policies pose strict notification requirements, such as 30 days notice for hit-and-run accidents.  Many contracts have separate conditions for uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage requiring very prompt notice, and insurance carriers can change their policy filing requirements at any time.  When car accident victims do not respond to notification requirements on time, they can lose their coverage.

How to protect yourself:  Notify your insurance company immediately after any type of accident. Be sure you have your complete auto insurance policy, including any notification of coverage changes from year to year. This can also include pamphlets or notes that are mailed with renewal statements, reflecting any policy terms and changes.  Most policies include declarations, conditions, insuring agreements and exclusions with conditions.

It’s also important to check insurance policies for any benefits that overlap with your own health and disability insurance; and to review any additional coverage (such as uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage). When receiving ongoing medical care for car accident injuries, having a solid understanding of insurance policies can help ensure that health care providers bill appropriately.

If you are confused with your auto insurance policy and have questions, don’t hesitate to contact a lawyer who specializes in auto accidents – most are happy to offer advice and guidance for your protection.

Insurance agents don’t always recommend the best coverage :

Following a car accident, there can be numerous issues and challenges navigating through your car insurance coverage including health insurance plans, managed care plans, retirement plans such as ERISA, and coordinated/uncoordinated policies.  In addition, insurance agents may avoid mentioning important coverage options and applicable discounts due to payout losses or lower premiums that reduce their commissions.

How to protect yourself:  If you are injured in an auto accident, contact an experienced auto accident lawyer who is best qualified to provide guidance on issues of which insurance is primary, and who will pay medical expenses that are incurred after a crash.

An insured person with both ERISA and coordinated insurance may end up recovering nothing for their pain and suffering in the event of an auto accident.

Check your insurance policy for uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage of at least 0,000 per person and 0,000 per accident. If this type of coverage is missing, contact your insurance carrier to add it – the cost is minimal and highly recommended to protect you and your family.

Accident Settlement Offers Are Always Too Low:

Imagine you just suffered devastating injuries from a car accident and are now recuperating at home, in pain, and worrying about how you are going to pay your bills. An insurance agent knocks on your door with a check for 0,000 for your accident. With the emotional and physical trauma following a car or truck crash, a large amount of money sounds great, and some victims rush into accepting the first settlement offer. Yet determining the value of an auto accident case goes far beyond a simple calculation of injury type, future expenses not covered by no-fault insurance and the wrongdoer’s policy limit.  Offering to settle is essentially a backdoor approach by insurance companies to saving litigation costs at the expense of an accident victim’s right to a full recovery.

How to protect yourself:  It never hurts to call an auto accident lawyer and ask for advice.  Many lawyers can explain accident law, what you are entitled to and make sure your own insurance company is paying everything they are supposed to – with no fee or obligation.

Releases and Recorded Statements Are Pushed Early On to Overwhelm Accident Victims:

Many victims rush into signing adjusters’ documents without having the language reviewed by an auto accident lawyer, believing these are just basic verifications of the accident. Therefore, they may lose their right to sue a negligent driver for accident-related injuries. Claims adjusters often try to get recorded statements early, aiming to minimize the victim’s pain and injuries for later use in court. Even vehicle damage releases can contain unrelated language that can jeopardize your other claims.

How to protect yourself:  Never give statements to an accident claims adjuster and never sign a release or allow the adjuster to look at the auto damage.  Simply tell the adjuster that you need to review the paperwork with your attorney and will get back to them with your response.

No matter how desperate you may feel after suffering the financial burden of medical bills, lost wages and disabling pain, involving an auto accident attorney will ensure your rights are protected.  Keep in mind that the claims adjuster works for the insurance company, and has its best interest in mind – not the injured victim.

Standard practice is to deny or delay claim payouts:

Most people suffering injuries from a car accident call their auto insurance company to find out what to do next.  They assume that when they follow the process, they will receive fair, timely compensation for injuries resulting from the auto accident.  After all, they paid for the auto insurance for that reason – to be covered in the event of a car accident.

Yet many insurance companies engage in common auto claims adjuster tactics including denying claims, not returning calls, placing people on hold for extensive periods, requiring a victim to repeatedly gather records, and passing you from one adjuster to the next.   Soon the financial burden of time off work and mounting medical bills drives innocent car accident victims to contact an attorney. Or worse, it makes them desperate enough to accept an extremely low settlement offer, limiting any future recovery of damages.

How to protect yourself: If you are experiencing these typical delay tactics, contact an auto accident attorney who can assist you with getting your claim processed and the benefits you are entitled to under your state’s law.

Bottom Line:  If your auto accident involves injuries to you and/or your family (even seemingly minor injuries), consult an auto accident attorney as soon as possible.  Not only will you better understand what benefits you are entitled to, but you will have the peace of mind knowing that you received the full value of benefits and compensation available to injured drivers.

Your Dental Insurance Plan – What You Need To Know

There are fantastic deals on a dental plans out there for you and it only requires a bit of research. Don’t wait until you find there is a problem.

Key Factors in Buying Your Dental Cover

The best cover offers a lot of preventive care for free or very inexpensively. This is in place to encourage simple steps that in the long-run save you a lot of money.

Usually, at the very least, plans provide two free cleanings a year and the only time the coverage gets rather expensive is when you start getting into services like a root canal.

Basic fillings are well covered and if you have kids you know they may well need a few of those. A dental insurance plan is vital if you have children. Good dental hygiene and regular visits to the dentist can save them from a lifetime of heartache.

There are some companies that offer special plans that works a little differently than a traditional dental insurance plan. They are more commonly called discount plans. By just signing up you get deep discounts in dental services. If you are a single adult with good teeth, this may be the way to go.

They offer cheap cleaning and visits. If you require more coverage, you will want to stick to the more traditional type of plan.

Coverage Level Is The Deciding Factor For Many

As with health insurance, a dental cover may take in to account the level of insurance you will need. If you are older, you are likely to have more difficulty and require more care. Even with a top notch dental insurance plan there are things that virtually no one will cover. Dentures and tooth replacement are just a couple of them.

If you are a senior you may want to contact AARP for a their offer. They often offer less of a penalty for being a senior.

You can probably get away with not having a dental insurance plan for years, but when the time comes and it seems to come for all of us, you don’t even want to think about paying full price. If you find yourself in this situation contact one of the discount dental plan providers and sign up.

They will cover you right away so at least you can enjoy a deep discount on services.

Find Plans Recommended By Others

A great way to start looking for the best dental cover for you is to ask friends and family who they use, if it is affordable and how much they cover. Often a dental insurance plan will only offer so much coverage per year.

If you have a college age student, some campuses offer a dental plans just for their students. It may be more affordable than covering them on your plan. Spend some time online or in the yellow pages and start evaluating all the options for your cover before you need it.

You will be glad you did.

Know What To Look For When Buying Individual Health Insurance

Most Americans who have health insurance are covered through an employer’s plan. However, some employers do not offer health insurance coverage. If you work for one of these companies, you will need to purchase private individual health insurance.
There are certain advantages to purchasing health coverage in the private market. Instead of choosing from plans pre-selected by an employer, you decide which plan features you want, and pick a plan accordingly. For example, by choosing a plan with a higher deductible, or one that doesn’t cover certain services, you may realize a substantial premium savings each month.
Instead of having your coverage tied to a place of employment, coverage through a private health plan is yours to keep no matter where you work. A health insurer can’t drop you as long as you pay your premiums on time.
But along with these advantages come some potential disadvantages—

• Employer plans provide considerably more coverage than individual plans, even when you are paying the same premium rate. That’s because with an individual policy, a larger percentage of the premium goes to pay for such operational costs as marketing and paying claims.
• A group plan generally must insure all employees and family members, while individual plans can reject applicants who aren’t in perfect health. They can also offer plans that exclude coverage for certain pre-existing conditions.
• In most states, private health insurance plan premiums increase as you age. Initially, you can avoid these rate increases by periodically changing plans, because new rates tend to be lower than renewals. However, as you get older, it will become more difficult to find a company to insure you and individual policies will get more expensive.
If you do need to shop in the private health insurance market, you first need to find a competent insurance agent.  Determining what kind of insurance you need and how much coverage to buy are complex issues. A good agent will help you assess your situation, and work with you to find the right coverage for your specific needs. The key to a successful working relationship with aninsurance agent is trust. You should be able to trust your agent’s knowledge, experience and professional judgment, and you should always feel secure that your agent is acting in your best interest. But keep in mind that trust is a two-way street: Your agent also needs to trust you to provide information that is truthful and complete.
If you are comparing several plans, you need to know what to look for before making a decision. When choosing a health plan ask your health insurance agent the following questions:

·   Will the plan cover me for the specific doctor or hospital I would like to use?
·   How does the referral system work?
·   What pre-existing conditions would affect coverage?
·   How will the plan handle care if I (or a family member) am away from home?
·   What is the plan’s monthly premium, and what deductible and coinsurance am I required to pay?
·   Are there other fees, such as copayments and any additional charges if I use providers that are out-of-network?
·   Is there a maximum amount the plan will pay over a year or a lifetime?
·   What types of benefits are specific to this plan?
The purchase of individual health insurance in the private market can seem confusing. Approach its purchase like you would that of any important item—research your options and compare prices, and get the best advice and assistance you can, in this case, the services of a qualifiedinsurance agent.

Getting To Know The Importance Of Auto Insurance Companies – Online And Offline

Being safe at all times is the top priority of everyone. Being safe not just in terms of simply staying at home, but safety during driving is also included. That is why there are different auto insurance companies out there that are willing to offer their services to most people.

While purchasing a new vehicle, it is normal that the auto insurance is also included for a limited period of time. After that period of time, it is the car owner’s discretion whether he would want to continue and pay for the claims monthly or stop paying for it. Absolutely, there is no way that a car owner would go out and drive his/her car without auto insurance. Actually, there is no need to stick with the old insurance company – there are different options out there just in case people would be deciding to transfer to another auto insurance company.

The roads are becoming more and more dangerous as time passes by. Accidents might occur here and there, and having a damaged car without insurance might cause pain most especially to someone’s budget.

For people who have spare time, they could go and contact one auto insurance company to another and check out the prices including the coverage. An agent might be able to help when it comes to different benefits, and the arrangements can be talked about. However, for busy people, there is no need to frown of these people could not personally go and meet an auto insurance agent. The internet is such a huge place not just for shopping but for different companies offering their services as well. Believe it or not, people can get the chance to avail and purchase their auto insurance just by simply going online.

As a matter of fact, more people are deciding to purchase their auto insurance online. The benefits, coverage and the monthly amount to be paid is almost the same. Some people would say that it is more convenient for them since there is no need to drive all their way to the insurance company and they could do it within the comforts of their own home or office.

Aside from the things mentioned, buying auto insurance online would also let people manage and change their policy online. Most of these companies also accept online payment – which is more convenient since traffic going to the company would not be experienced and there is no need to wait and line up for a very long time just to pay for a claim or simply change the policy.

Whether it is going to be processed online or personally, it is still the decision of the car owner. But, what’s important is to always drive safely and never forget to purchase auto insurance for added safety and security.

With all this in mind, it is important that you get auto car insurance at very affordable rates so check http://www.liveautoinsurancequotes.org/

Know and Avail Your Disability Insurance Benefits Pronto

A study reveals, “a 20-year-old worker has a 3 in 10 chance of becoming disabled before reaching retirement age.”

If you suddenly find yourself out of job because of disability, do not lose hope. There is disability insurance and benefits program that you can avail in the US to help you tide over the times you were disabled and thus off work.

Employer disability insurance program

Majority of employers offer medical, dental and life insurance benefits to their employees nowadays. On top of that, some offers disability benefits, which can range from short-term disability and long-term disability, or both.

You may want to know what your own company can offer you. Read the copy of your employee’s manual or contract of employment. Your human resources officer can also provide you valuable information regarding your company’s disability insurance policy.

State Disability Insurance

Some states offer disability insurance benefits to those who are not covered by their employer’s disability benefits, or when there is no insurance provided at all. The following states, among others, offer disability insurance benefits:

•    California

•    New York

•    New Jersey

•    Hawaii

•    Rhode Island

Funds for disability insurance benefits in California come from contributions provided by employees. A portion of their paychecks forms part of the state fund. Those who cannot work because of disability unconnected to the job may file money claim to replace their lost income from such fund.

The California State Disability Insurance also covers cases of women who cannot report to work because of pregnancy or those who takes time off to take care of ill relatives or a newborn child.

Workmen’s Compensation

For employees who are not qualified to State’s Disability Insurance, they may claim under the Workmen’s Compensation Disability Insurance. Almost all states in the country require private and public employers to develop this type of disability insurance.

If you have been injured on the job or developed a job related sickness, you may file your claim under Workmen’s Compensation if your claim cannot fall under the State’s Disability Insurance.

Social Security disability benefits

The Social Security Administration pays disability benefits under the following programs:

1.    The Social Security disability insurance program

This program pays benefit to you and certain family members if you have worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes.

If your child’s disability started before the age of 22, he/she may also qualify for benefits on your earnings record.

2.    The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program

This program pays benefits to disabled adults and children who have limited income and resources.

You may call SSA, visit their website or consult with a Social Security Law attorney to know how to avail SSA disability benefits.
Bear in mind however, that SSA imposes strict qualifications and proof of severe medical conditions to be eligible to SSA disability benefits.

Veterans’ disability insurance

For service members and veterans, the US Veterans Benefits Administration can give those benefits under either two programs; (1) the disability compensation and (2) the disability pension.

The disability compensation is given to service members and veterans who suffer at least 10% disability because of military service. The disability contemplated here includes physical injuries, physical and mental diseases, and posttraumatic stress disorder.

On the other hand, disability pension is given to eligible wartime veterans who have limited income and cannot work, or who are 65 years old or older.

These are just some of the various disability insurance benefits that you may avail of depending on your existing condition, coverage and qualification. Communicate with a proper government agency regarding your claim or consult with an attorney who has specialization on the matter.

In pursuing your disability insurance benefits, our credible and skilled Los Angeles lawyers will ensure that you will receive the rightful claim that you deserved.

Thanks for viewing my question.
My family consists of two 33 year-old adults and one 3 year-old child.
We are both healthy-except that he smokes.
I am considering buying a life insurance policy to provide between $50 and $100k to help support my daughter in case either myself or her father pass on.

I know very little about life insurance and would like to get the best deal possible. Should I purchase the insurance from my auto agent? Should I buy from a local independent agent instead of from a large national firm?
Please offer me some pointers.

Thank you and God Bless.

I am back to work full time and on a blood thinning medication

If you already have a pre-existing condition (a disability), most insurance companies don’t seem to allow you to get short or long term disability insurance. Are there any companies that will allow you to get short or long term disability anyway, with the exclusion that if you become disabled due to your disability it won’t cover it, but if you become disabled some other way (like an accident or something) then you would be covered? I know they call these “riders” but can’t find a company willing to do this.

Looking for a company that will. Anyone know of any?
